| Cat Bulldozer D9
|
The Caterpillar DP is a very large track type bulldozer. There are many different
configurations to this model but is mainly sold as a bulldozer. The D9, as it
is more commonly known as has a 474 horsepower engine, can you imagine the power
of an engine of that size. It has an operating rate of 49 tons in the upper end
but it is not the heaviest of Cat's bulldozers, the D11 which has an engine
size of 935 horsepower and 104 ton capacity.
The D9 is the most popular out of all of the Cat's line of bulldozers. The
reason why it is most popular is because of the size, durability, reliability
and the low operating costs. The Cat is the most widely used bulldozer in the
world with only Komatsu as one of the top competitors.
The D9 bulldozer is run with Caterpillar tracks. The D9 has undergone some changes,
in the 80's when the D10 came out the D9 came out with the first variation
of the D9, it was the D9L. It had a High Drive enhancement added to it. The High
Drive allows the Belly Pan more ground clearance. There have been 2 more variations
since then, the D9R and the D9T. Though the other models like the N and the L
are the most common. The one huge difference in the D9R and the D9T is that the
D9T has the new Cat C18 ACERT engine.
The Cat D9 comes in three different ways. It comes in Straight Blade, this is
the S blade which is short and it have no curve, no side wings and this model
can be used for fine grading. The Universal Blade or the U Blade. This is a tall
and very curved blade, it has a huge side wings. Construction workers use this
blade for carrying materials. Then there is the S-U combination blade. These blades
are shorter and have fewer curves. It is a blade that is typically used for pushing
large rocks or materials around.
These bulldozers are used in construction projects but they are also used for
military uses. They are used to clear booby traps in the desert; they are used
to demolish terrorists home and hideouts. They are very useful in that capacity.
Bulldozers are not juts used to move rocks.
