Lawn care contractors all differ in what types of services they offer. The
smaller guys that do not belong to a larger corporation or company will offer
lawn mowing service including edging and week whacking. They may offer trimming
trees and shrubs. Some of the larger companies will offer free lawn analysis
to determine what chemicals your lawn needs to stay green. They may offer fertilizer
and seed distribution and some may offer lawn treatments every other week.
How do I know which lawn service is right for me?
You don't have to choose the very first company you see. Make a list
of the things you are looking for in a company and when you call around see
what company is willing to give you what you want for the cheapest price. Then
ask them if they would be willing to come do one lawn service to see what they
can do before signing a contract, make sure you tell them you will pay them
for the service.
If I hire a lawn service, is there anything left for me to do?
That would depend on what services you are paying for. One thing for sure that
you will need to do is water the lawn once to twice a week. The lawn company
no matter who you choose will not water your lawn. See if fertilization is included
and if it isn't then that is something you will need to do in the beginning
of the season, the end and maybe the middle depending on how your lawn is doing.
