How many times have you looked at your electric bill and almost fell on the
floor? There are many ways to save money on electricity. You can save on your
bill, it may not be hundreds of dollars but any little bit helps with the bills.
When you could be using that extra money somewhere else.
Turn off the lights
In the day time, there is no reason why you need to have any lights on. If
you happen to turn a light on then simply remember to turn it off. The same
thing goes for TV's and radios and computers. You may not think that leaving
your computer on overnight will cost you money but in between your billing cycle
it does add up. Shut it down when you are not using it. Same goes with the TV
and radios.
Wash your dishes
If you have a dishwasher try not running it very night. Some people will run
it when there is 5 dishes in it. Not only are you wasting water but you are
wasting electricity. Unless the dishwasher is full try washing the dishes. You
use zero electricity.
Use night lights
Some people leave their outside porch lights on overnight. If you and your
family are all in the house for the night then there is no reason why it has
to be on. Turn it off for the night. Same goes for the kitchen light that you
leave on for whatever reason. If you need to have a light , purchase a small
nightlight that uses very little voltage.
Change your light bulbs
Rather than use the standard 60 watt bulbs in every room of the house, use
energy efficient light bulbs. You can save a lot of money using these bulbs
and they are great for every room in the house. You can find them in Home Depot,
Lowe's or Wal-Mart.
Cut back on your air conditioning
If no one is home all day and the day is going to be hot you are just wasting
money on using the AC when no one is home. If you know it is going to be hot
and you work, buy a timer and set it for an half and hour before you get home,
so you can cool off the house before you get there. Don't let it run all
day.
