Click to view full size.A spill proof cup or more commonly known as a sippy cup is a cup made for children
who are learning how to drink out of a cup. They are used between bottles and
a regular cup. The cup is made from plastic and the top has a raised slanted
spout so your kids can drink from it. Inside the cup it has plastic insert that
controls the amount of liquid that your child can drink. The trouble with kids
learning to drink from a standard cup is that they drink too fast and the drink
comes out too fast.
There are many different types to get. They come in all shapes and sizes. One
brand in particular is Gerber. They have the two handle sippy cups, these cups
are 4 ounce plastic cups that have a plastic piece that sits over the mouth
of the cup. The piece has two handles, one on each side, making it easier for
your child to grab the cup. It is a good product to use a your babies first
cup. They also make a color changing cup. These are cups that come in one color
and when you pour cold liquid in they change colors and when you put in hot
water they also change.
First Years is another company that makes great baby and toddler products.
They have one product in particular called The Take and Toss Spill Proof Cup.
These cups come in a multi pack and what is great is that you can use them once
or twice and then toss them out. They are perfect for traveling.
Playtex is one of the best names in spill proof cups. Their cups are made from
a strong sturdy plastic, your child can throw these cups across the room and
they still won't spill. These cups are insulated as well and will keep
a cold drink cold longer than a standard sippy cup. They may cost a bit more
but they last a lot longer than other cups do. Playtex also offers the two handle
cups as well. They have soft spouts and the grip handles are soft making it
easier for the baby to grip the cups.
Spill proof cups are great for kids from the ages of 6 months and older. Learning
to drink out of a cup is very important to them. It is a sign of independence
and a sign they are ready for the next developmental stage in their lives.
