Unique content is when you as a writer produces original work that no one else
has written. Unique content is very important to webmasters who are trying to
call some attention to their website. As a webmaster puts together his website
and chooses content over products what ever the subject matter is in order to
be recognized by the search engines has to be 100 percent original. You would
be surprised at how many sites are out there that have the same information
that you find in Wikipedia or other sites. Some webmasters not only copy but
they copy from a copy.
The search engines when they sent out their spiders to crawl a site to index
and they see duplicate content they will penalize your site as well as the other
site where you got the information from. But the other site will be credited
as being the original author of the work. Then the search engines will most
likely not give your site any search results. Unique content can be the difference
in getting an index of the top 100 for anew site or the bottom 1000. In the
world of websites it is cheating just like in any other capacity when you steal
someone's work.
It can be difficult for non writers to come up with their own ideas. Instead
of copying someone else's idea try finding a writer to write the content
for you. There is nothing wrong with that, people do it all the time. When you
go into a forum or place a post on Craig's List make sure you write you
want original content. Never pay someone upfront unless they have a good reputation,
there have been too many cases where people have bought content only to find
it has been copied.
There is a website called Copyscape, it is free to use, all you need is the
URL the page will appear on and enter the content into the space provided. Then
the site will scan the web for originality. If any part of the article was copied
then the website will show you exactly what site the content was taken from.
You can try writing content, the subject matter can match anything in the world,
you cannot write word for word. If you use quotes from articles or Wikipedia
be sure to credit the source so it does not count as plagiarism.
